Check out this recipe for Savory Thai-style Peanut Sauce
June 6, 2016
Do you swoon over peanut sauce like a scene from a romantic novela? If so, then that makes two of us. I LOVE peanut sauce, and I have a hard time dropping eight dollars for these tiny little bottles of sauce that never last as long as I would wish. So, I decided to make my own, and now I’d like to share it with you. I hope you enjoy!
This recipe is for a moderately sweet, mildly spicy peanut sauce. If you like a sauce that is a little more tangy, then add a little more rice wine vinegar or lime juice.
1 Can Coconut Milk (health benefits here)
2 Tbs Unsweetened Peanut Butter
2 tsp Soy sauce OR liquid aminos
2 tsp Fish sauce
(Smell’s bad. Tastes great.)
1 tsp Rice Wine Vinegar
1 tsp Sesame Oil
1-3 tsp Sriracha
1 Tbs Fresh minced Ginger (benefits here)
2 Tbs Brown Sugar
Juice from 1/2 lime
*Cilantro is also a great flavor addition, but it definitely makes the sauce more perishable.
Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pot, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Be sure to stir regularly until the sauce is smooth, then reduce to a low heat and simmer. Cover with a lid, and continue to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let sit for an additional 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Sauce will thicken upon cooling.
This sauce can be used either hot or cold, and it can be stored safely for several weeks.
